Celebrating Veterans Day

America’s supply chain has the faithful support of so many military veterans and on this national Veteran’s Day, we salute you! About 20% of FreightWorks’ growing team of drivers have served our country and we are so very thankful for your service!

Originally our “Veteran’s Day” was known as "Armistice Day" and in 1919, November 11 was chosen to celebrate and remember the anniversary of the end of global World War I. In 1926, Congress made this solemn honoring an annual observance and in 1938 it finally became a well-deserved national holiday. Veterans Day "pays tribute to all American veterans-living or dead - but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime".

It’s important to note that other countries such as Great Britain, France, Australia, and Canada also celebrate the ending of the war on or near November 11 with Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday. Some of the ways that these other countries acknowledge this holiday is by observing 2 minutes of silence at 11 AM every November 11.

Here in America, we know people from all walks of life have served in the military. Many are dads, moms, neighbors, parents, grandparents, or coworkers. These everyday heroes deserve our affirmation, respect, and honor as we know freedom isn’t free and our nation has been built on simple sacrifices.

In the United States today, with over 18 million veterans, 1 in 4 of them are truck drivers. With the escalating demand for truck drivers right now, there has been a new call for U.S. military veterans to consider becoming professional drivers.

There are many benefits for our military veterans and trucking companies like FreightWorks are motivated to recruit veterans.

Trucking companies like ours are paying competitive salaries to attract veterans and offering new and motivating benefits. Along with solid pay, trucking is a steady career that allows for great travel and a predictable schedule. The trucking industry also allows potential growth on so many fronts.

As the trucking and logistics industry continues to change we know that FreightWorks will stand ready to start a conversation with any man or woman who is armed now with a CDL are ready to serve their country again! We’re standing by for your call, email, or text.
